Engine Test Cell Control Software

Enhanced Software Optimizes Efficiency and Data Management in Engine Test Cellscm logo

We have successfully supplied control software for existing diesel engine test cells, revolutionizing their operations. These test cells play a crucial role in conducting comprehensive checks on engines, both from the production line and those returned by customers. With our innovative software/control system, the test cells have been equipped with advanced capabilities to streamline testing processes and enhance efficiency.

Each of the engine test cells now utilizes a dedicated cell computer to control a throttle actuator and dynamometer. Additionally, a supervisory machine serves as a central file server and an arbitrator for an Emissions Cart, facilitating seamless data management and coordination.

The software allows for automatic testing based on pre-defined schedules, which include specific requirements such as desired speeds, torque, auxiliary parameters like fuel temperature, and phase-specific alarm conditions. These schedules are executed in sequence on an engine, eliminating the need for human intervention during the testing process.

Furthermore, the control software monitors key signals continuously, constantly evaluating the engine's condition for any alarms or faults. In the event of a fault, a controlled or emergency shutdown routine is initiated to safely stop the engine. Simultaneously, a shutdown log is generated, providing a comprehensive record of all signals observed during the final two minutes of operation.

Upon completion of the tests, the test data is seamlessly transferred from the cell computer to the server. This data becomes readily available to engineers' office-based PCs, enabling efficient analysis and evaluation of the engine's performance.

By supplying this advanced control software, we have revolutionized the operations of the existing diesel engine test cells, enhancing their capabilities and efficiency. The automated testing processes, comprehensive monitoring of key signals, and seamless data transfer have significantly improved the testing workflow, providing engineers with valuable insights and facilitating informed decision-making.
